English mother copes with grief through Pilates

In November 2024, Charlene Abdul of Dorking, Surrey, lost her 15-year-old son Tyler to suicide. This tragic event prompted her to act to help save other families from experiencing the same grief and prevent suicide. She has since established the Tyler Abdul Foundation, which provides support, resources, and workshops to study and improve the mental health of young people. She has also found comfort in Pilates. Having taught from her home studio for years, she recently opened her own studio, Pilateso, in Dorking, which not only offers Pilates classes for all levels six days a week but also holds youth evenings on Fridays to promote community and better mental health among teenagers. On October 4, the foundation held a 24-hour Pilates marathon to raise funds, with the online classes being taught by Pilates instructors throughout the world, and the event was able to raise £10,000.

Check out the Tyler Abdul Foundation website for more information about their work and announcements about upcoming events.
